Perché visitare Lake Como
Lake Como (or Lario) is located about 80 kilometers north of Milan. It is the third largest Italian lake, after Lake Garda and Lake Maggiore, and the deepest, with a maximum profile of 410 meters.
The lake has a characteristic inverted Y shape, it winds through three branches: Como to the south west, Lecco to the south east and Colico to the north.
From its shores you can enjoy multiple and fascinating views: charming villages, splendid villas and lush gardens await visitors in search of relaxation and culture in contact with nature.
A succession of splendid villas dot the shores of the lake, a holiday destination of Italian and European nobility as early as the sixteenth century.
Como, the town from which the lake takes its name, was founded by the ancient Romans and became an important trading center in the Middle Ages. The testimonies of this period of splendor are the stupendous Duomo and the walls that surround the city.
The lake is still today the destination of the international jet set, with big Hollywood stars like George Clooney who made it their summer residence.
